Bah the wedding was the best for me. Korrasami was a milestone for like...same sex couples in cartoons or something, but I don't really see same sex couples as anything different than hetero couples, so...

Yes that was another very big down point, one of the things that make one reconsider the four star rating of The Legend of Korra, but of course there are other movements that are worse.
Still it is a needless pandering to an audience that should not even be mentioned
I would have to say that four out of six stars is very generous now that I have finally seen the whole show.
The biggest problem with this scene of course that it is the last scene.
The last scene of Avatar was a sweet moment between two friends that had finally found each other (but had always been in the cards they should have each other)
This one is completely out of character and can be summarised with a single word:
LuminaBalderson Featured By Owner Sep 15, 2016
Quite the contrary.

The creators explicitly confirmed that Korrasami is indeed Canon, and that any other pairing would be pandering; they chose Korrasami because they felt that it was the right thing to do.

Basically: Korrasami is canon, and you gotta deal with it!
rphb Featured By Owner Sep 15, 2016
I did not deny that it was canon, my whole complain was based on the fact that it was. Because it is a needless pandering to homophiles, which is bad in an of itself, as we should never try to actively promote sin.
But it is also bad because it is taken completely out of the context of the rest of the story, as there were nothing leading up to it. It was just a scene made to pander to the profane.
LuminaBalderson Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2016
You know, nowhere in the bible does it actually say that same-gender relationships are wrong. It just has an ambiguously worded passage that for all we know could be saying that having sex with a guy is okay if you don't take advantage of them.

And besides, I have no reason to listen to you, as I'm a bisexual who despises religious people for being oppressive.

Besides, everyone knows that people against homosexuality are the ones going to hell due to hating people for being different.

Have fun living in this world, where gay marriage is legal in all fifty states!

(Seriously, though, don't talk to me again. I have no desire to continue this conversation and can and will ignore everything you say, bible f*cker.)
rphb Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2016
If thou don't want to talk to me, why write to me?
And yes I know all about the legality of it, but that does not affect the morality.
I don't know if thou hast heard of two cities called Sodom and Gomorrah.
That unfortunately is the fate of America, it have turned from God, and ye have been warned.
Next comes judgement, no one can escape it.
LuminaBalderson Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2016
I was trying to point out that it was canon and that there was nothing wrong with two women being together.
But clearly, you did not listen.

I did not intend to get as angry as I did. I am not apologizing for what I said, only that I did not convince you.

Something you seem to have forgotten, however:
As stated in the Bible, God will forgive people of their sins, so long as they are good and kind.

One of the basic tenements of Christianity is kindness and compassion to everyone, regardless of their gender, sexuality, race, or anything else.
You must be able to forgive people and let go of hatred, or you are not a true Christian.

God is Merciful, forgiving, and kind. He would not bar someone entry over who they love, so long as that person does not hate or go out of their way to be cruel.

And I don't hate you. I pity you, and I did lash out, but I lashed out because I cannot stand hatred being thrown around over such a monumental occasion that marks the beginning of humanity slowly letting go of said hatred.

If you are right and it truly is a sin, then God will forgive me, as well as everyone else like me.
He will forgive others like me.
He will forgive America.

And I forgive you.
rphb Featured By Owner Sep 20, 2016
Thou need to understand what forgiveness means. Jesus said to always forgive the one that repent. This is key, people that have done wrong, admit they have done wrong and makes no excuses for it, should be forgiven. But every time someone makes excuses for their actions, they are not sorry for them, they do not repent. And people that do not repent should not be forgiven.
Forgiveness is all about helping a sinner to overcome his sin, not to validate them.

And I also want to stress something else, that is actually really important. I am a philosopher, not a theologian. My moral judgements comes from reason and evidence, not from scripture. Now there is nothing wrong with scripture, but scripture is only for the faithful, it means nothing for a heathen.

The reason Why God will not forgive America, is because America does not repent, America needs to be destroyed in order to save its souls.
In 2001 God sent a warning to America, one that no one could ignore.
But ye did not repent, ye did not turn back, instead ye doubled down, and removed yourself further from God

"The bricks have fallen, but we will rebuild with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”
Isaiah 9:10

If all of your leaders were to fall down on their knees tomorrow, prey for forgiveness and roll back all the satanic laws they had passed, then God will forgive you. But we all know that that is not going to happen.

I will tell thee how America will die, it will die like all empires die, though decadence.
Decadence is economic, moral and spiritual decline.

It is in reverse order, the economic always comes last, and it is when that root is cut that the tree tumbles.
Look at this:…
A small storm in the forms of a new recession is all that is needed for the tree to fall at this point

I see that I'm making no headway with convincing you.

It's a shame, because I think that you could do better.
But that's fine. I still forgive you for your hatred.

To forgive someone is to stop feeling hatred and resentment towards someone. And that's what I've chosen to do with you: to let go of my bad feelings for you and forgive you of your hatred.

Letting go of hate and showing love and compassion to everyone... That's what Christianity really is about.
Not about doomsday or sinners repenting out of fear of it, but by people being kind and loving to everyone. (And I do mean everyone.)

And that's why I forgive you: to show you kindness and compassion, even if I was incredibly rude to you at first and called you something I shouldn't have.

Even if you don't listen, even if you hate me for being different, I STILL FORGIVE YOU.

I'm just surprised they let a lesbian couple on a kids TV show.

They so have chemistry. Look at how they talk to each other through out the entire show.
blackcore11 Featured By Owner Sep 17, 2015
I wouldn't say that, they always seemed like good friends. It reminded me of the relationship between Katara and Toph form TLA.  I never would have guessed they would become lovers. Just look at the first season they hated each other.

I don't get what's wrong with this in kids shows.

blackcore11 Featured By Owner Aug 3, 2015
I just think it's a new trend going on. Allow me to enplane...  Now that gay marriage is legal,  I think that people that work with TV and other media are trying to get kids use to the fact that their can be a guy couple and it is totally normal. the sooner they get kids use to the idea the sooner it will became more accepted.
Wynterhawke07 Featured By Owner Dec 25, 2015  Hobbyist Writer
Didn't this come out before gay marriage was legalized in the US?
blackcore11 Featured By Owner Dec 25, 2015
I don't know, I cant remember. regardless they have been making more and more content for gay's over the years. Now that being gay isn't frown upon.  "depending on your family"
To be fair, they didn't have balls to do anything to make this pairing make sense in the show (you know, chemistry and stuff...).

I hope you realize that both of them would be considered Bi since they both have dated Mako....

So, your saying that two women that date each other are Not lesbians...
Kira-Sema Featured By Owner Oct 13, 2015  Student Digital Artist
No, I'm saying that Korra and Asami are both bisexual since they have dated Mako in the past. Lesbians don't date men.
blackcore11 Featured By Owner Oct 13, 2015
To be fare, gay people always have trouble coming out of the closet. Mabe they just haven't figured out their sexuality yet. They were only 15-16 years old, And society says that you should date only the opposite sex. "And seeing how the show technically took place in the 20s/30s"

But for all we know they could be bisexual, I still don't get why they made them lesbians.
Kira-Sema Featured By Owner Oct 19, 2015  Student Digital Artist
They didn't make them lesbians, they made Korra and Asami bisexual Bryke even confirmed that on his tumblr, or some social media site I don't remember. But they aren't lesbians.

First, I've learned to laugh at the negativity for being as baseless and dense as people who still think the world's flat and the moon's made of cheese (seriously, one of the reaction videos has what looks like an 8-YEAR-OLD boy that clearly and casually got it compared to the teen girls beside him sad that Makorra's as dead as it was in Season 2) and the irony that Mako was SUCH a Scrappy during the first half of the series yet there's people thinking he's entitled to get Korra back despite not doing jack development-wise because he's the guy/"reasons." More positively, I'm happy for the ACTUAL development for Korrasami, Bryke having the balls to do so, all the LGBT/outsiders in general who got some comfort out of it, Korra being happy and no longer alone and ESPECIALLY Asami after arguably going through even MORE crap than Korra (psychologically/emotionally) both in-series and even the fans over the whole painfully obvious "Asami the Equalist" BS.

That aside/as for this pic, it was the FIRST (and extra-confirmation that I wasn't tripping) in a loooooong (as in still-growing) series of Korrasami fanart I've been collecting since that day, so kudos and yeah, Varrick STILL deserved it after all the crap he's pulled since Season 2 (even if he was better than Unalaq, but who isn't.)

Well, to make Mako feel worse is that Asami apparently was also his girlfriend after the whole Korra deal... it must be awkward for him to seen his two Xs getting together.
PyramidHead90 Featured By Owner Apr 10, 2015
That entitlement you're mentioning was one of the driving forces behind Korrasami.  Bryke were big fans of Miyazaki, one of the big names behind Studio Ghibli, who liked to question that unspoken rule that if a boy meets girl, said boy and girl have to fall in love.
...mind you he didn't exactly undermine it or avert it in things like Ponyo or Howl's Moving Castle, but the point was that they felt obligated to pair up Korra because of that unspoken rule, they went with Mako for a bit of Zutara by proxy, and immediately regretted it because they knew it felt rushed, and they knew Korra and Mako didn't have a lot of chemistry.

So while correcting mistakes in season two involving Korra breaking up with Mako who was disloyal, insensitive, and who couldn't go five minutes without having an argument with someone, and lied to Korra about their relationship status, hurting someone else in the process (Because apparently they fucking hated that spiky haired emo), they questioned the rule again.  The plan was have Korra end the series alone.  But Korra did have social issues.  Her only close friend was her dog, Korra ending in a stable relationship would be development for her character.  So why not Asami?

And in the end it was executed very well.  It was kept subtle and came off as the evolution of a very strong friendship, we were spared most of the "Romance" that kind of undermined The Last Airbender's relationships.  They did tiptoe around it a little, but ultimately got it past the radar by asking politely.

Anyway, a lot of the people who still support Makorra sadly come off as juvenile at best.  You also get a fair amount of real pieces of shit who keep making this bullshit "KORRA WASN'T GAY!!  THEY MADE KORRA GAY!!" claim or people who just rant against any LGBT issue in general.  Korrasami broke the mold, did so well, and while it will have detractors it did what it set out to do.  We get to celebrate.  And detractors get to peel their own skin off in impotent rage.
Meaning we can celebrate further after that!

I agree, we get to enjoy what I feel was the perfect end to the Avatar series, since we aren't going to see the Earth Kingdom Avatar after Korra but in all honesty what conflict could they have done there that would contend with the Spirit of Darkness and a giant robot that ended up punching a hole between two worlds, while everyone else ruins it with their outdated bigotry.

AdeptDamage Featured By Owner Jun 23, 2015
It might have been good enough of an ending for Korra but not the Avatar series.
